HP Hood LLC, makers of Blue Diamond Vanilla Almond Breeze, announced a voluntary recall of its product last Friday due the potential presence of milk in its non-dairy beverage.
Those who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk may suffer an allergic reaction if they consume the almond milk, a popular milk replacement. Medical treatment or hospitalization may be required should you consume trace amounts of milk if you have an allergy.
The company recalled 145,254 half-gallon cartons of Vanilla Almond Breeze across 28 states in the country. The recall only applies to almond milk with “use by” dates of September 2, 2018 with a universal product codes (UPC) of 41570 05621.
The shipment was distributed to grocery stores, retailers and wholesalers in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The company noted in a statement this recall only affects .8% of the supply issued in the last twelve months.
